Likes and dislikes...

OK, so you've either got, or are waiting to get an FL2, either way you want this to be your perfect motor ... But in the real world that might not happen, so what do you really like, and what don't you like ???

For me the driving dynamics are wonderful, this car is really going to put the 'tring' back in motoring ! On road it is a very refined ride, smooth and quiet; off road, well I've only tried it a little but it's fun.

My car is very much a tool for work, during the week I live out of it (and hotels). It's early days but I've got a couple of observations to make. Firstly the boot light is cr4p !!! I spend a lot of time loading stuff in and out of the boot at work, hotels etc .... that poxy light on the left side is useless !!! Not much light in the first place and most of what it does put out is straight in your face, my last car had a large ceiling mounted light over the boot space .... this car WILL have the same very soon...

Interior storage space, the brochure makes claims about the number of storage palaces, but in reality they are not that good. Again, my previous car had a centre arm rest (between the two front seats) within which were two covered storage areas, one for CD's the other for smaller items, the FL2 has no place to store CD's .... Oh and the glove box requires a good old slam to close it !

The 'glove box' isn't that big and certainly isn't large enough for all my usual crap and th CD's that haven't got anywhere else to go. Guess I'll have to get an i-pod to work around this problem !!!

I rely on my TomTom Go sat nav for getting me around, I've found a way to mount the TomTom where the factory fit sat-nav would be, this is great since it means you don't have to put the mount on the windscreen which can cause a problem with opportunist thieves.

So what do you like, and what could be better ???

I mean ambient lighting. Like what you get in the Treg X5 D3 RRS FFRR etc etc.

usually found around the rear view mirror two small lights that glow down on dash gear shift area. Fiona

Cyberhusky & John-Boy, if you take a look in the gallery you'll see there is an album in my name 'avtur'. There is a picture that shows my TomTomGo 300 sitting in the dash of the GS. In the 'cubby hole' (where the factory sat-nav would be fitted) there is a rubber pad at the bottom, simply lift it up a little and pull it out about an inch, it creates a very neat ledge for the TomTom to sit on. Pplace the TomTom on the ledge and give it just the slightest push into the the cubby and there it stays. Have covered about 450 miles like this no problems!

This saves using the windscreen mount which then leaves the tell tale circles on the windscreen which car thieves then see and know you have a sat-nav ...

Yikes Fiona Shocked Rusting wheel nuts in the first couple months????

I am concerned because i have to drive on salted roads at least 5-6 months of the year. Will there be anything left of my FL2 after one winter?

I know but it's true rust but only on the locking nut and only on the surface a wee polish and it will come off Fiona

1 week on ... and what do I like ...

OK, so I've had the car just one week. I just can't rid of this insane ear to ear grin each time I get behind the wheel !!! And I've done that a few times already, 7 days and 1250 miles !! I just love driving this car, I've covered over 800 miles on the motorways, staying legal most of the time, it's a lovely cruiser. It's been off road and got its feet dirty. Its covered a good few miles in the snow passing loads of motors that were either stuck or abandoned. Not bad for it's first week, I hope every week is just as good ... Oh and the fuel consumption, one trip 400 miles computer indicated 38.3mpg and another trip 510 miles 37.9 (OK mostly m'way miles but still good!)
