If you do get a new screen, insist on it been a Land Rover one espically if you have the heated front screen . I think there's been issues with non OEM screens, I'm sure someone will come along and give more. Infon

yes totally agree, though not needed a landrover one( yet)..
had to have one on another car a few years ago,
they do not like fitting genuine ones as they make less money.
BUT I told them if it was not genuine m /fac screen it would invalidate the warranty ...they rolled over after that
go for it Wales

I had a screen fitted last week by Autoglass, identical Pilkington glass screen but without the Land Rover logo.

I had a screen repair fail on mine within the year and got a new piece of glass free of charge. I insisted on an LR screen, it wasn't until the engineer saw the state of the previous repair that they said no problem sir Wink

New LR screen in now and like new Thumbs Up Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Dear Mr Young

Thank you for your enquiry Autoglass do not make their glass we only use manufacturers standard glass. So whatever Land Rover put in your vehicle we us the same glass.

Please contact us on our free phone number 0800 01 01 88 quote your vehicle registration number and an advisor will be able to book you in.

Thanks again and we look forward to hearing from you.

just got clarification......

quote

Dear Mr Young

To be precise, Land Rover do not make glass for their cars, another glass company make it. Autoglass do not make their own glass either so our glass is sourced from the same supplier that Land Rover get their glass from. There still may be a difference though as some car manufacturers have their name embosed or etched on the glass and of course the glass that we get does not have the name of the car company on it, but its the same glass.

The glass that the car manufacturers fit in their vehicles is called OE glass (Original Equipment) which generally insurance companies will not authorise as a replacement as the manufacturers charge a lot more with customers having to pay the difference.

The glass that we fit in all vehicles unless authorised will be manufacturers standard glass and not OE, the only difference as i stated above being a car companies name on it.

We can fit OE glass, not a problem but authorisation would have to be obtained from your insurer in order to proceed and it will probably cost you a lot more than your excess.

I hope this clarifies the subject.

Thanks again.
