They are a little heavier than some but it may be that the cables need greasing. John

Bought from local LR dealer and they claim to do a 115 point check, but I'll have a word and see what they suggest. |

The Freelander gearbox is usually smooth and light to the touch. As JST suggested the linkage probably needs lubricating, it's a fairly simple job to do - try a search on here. But as you've just taken delivery - take it back and get the Dealer to sort it for you and while your're there ask for an Experience Voucher. |

deffo not right - suggest you take it back to Dealer and tell them you're not happy with the gearchange. Also see if you can tes drive another one of similar age to see if it is smoother or the same. I've owned 2 manuals and both have been smooth |

I would say my gear change is a delight, I can change gear using just two fingers, I thought it nice and light and precise, well on mine anyway. |

Maybe its because the clutch is dragging and not disengaging fully, this will effect clean engagement as youre fighting against driving forces still? |

the clutch bite isn't low so not sure if the clutch is dragging. |

The manual one I had before I sold it was getting notchy, but only when cold, never needed to change down in to 1st so can't tell you if it was like yours. |

I am just selling my manual se. It too is clunky when cold. Best to use ptfe lubrication spray on linkage under bonnet, and the selector mechanism in the Center console. Worked a treat for me. |
