The world's two largest commercial aircraft builders use miles of "one shot" velcro, adhesive tape and glue to hold high stress points together. For the FL2 tailgate handle you just need to use the right tape - a Boeing or Airbus engineer can specify the right one, but, it may be a little expensive. |

I agree that there are some pretty aggressive tapes available - I work in the sign industry which uses loads of the stuff, however the construction of the handle does not have enough contact area to allow the use of tape, no matter how strong it is - it is basically a hollow plastic shell with brackets attached. It is far easier to just drill new holes and fit it properly - once fitted, why would you want to downgrade to the old one anyway? Cheers,

Very true, but the idea of using tape would be to make it reversible. But by using a strong tape good enough to hold it in place, would run the risk of pulling off the paint should you remove it. So you may as well fit it properly. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |
