Hello.....and facelift?

Firstly hello!!! I'm new here, not to land rovers, got a 90 and had most models except RR. I'm planning to get a 2007 - 2008, looking just now, but always like to put my mark on my vehicles, and heres my question, what is the difference between the early ones and when were they facelifted? I've looked around, and searched but cant find anywhere, sorry if its been asked before. Brilliant forum BTW. Thumbs Up

Hello and welcome Thumbs Up

TD4 engine got less power but more torque. SD4 option arrived with 190bhp auto only. Minor tweaks inside such as speedometer and rev counter dials (bolder numbers). Changes to lights. New front grill and the chrome

Welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

Facelifted for the 2011 model year (available toward the end of 2010 I think) and as the doc said the key difference is a different front end with new bumper and projector lights, the rear got a chrome a Censored piece much to many peoples dis-taste, the engines got fettled (150bhp vs 160bhp and the new SD 190) and they also recieved a DPF. 2011 also saw the introduction of the 2WD version shortly after the release of the face lift.

Specs have changed slightly tyhroughout the model range and generally every year although they have stayed pretty much the same with the S, GS, SE/XS and the HSE.

Pre facelift the S came with no gadgets or terrain programme. Post facelift it came with the terrain programme thingy
The SE is no longer available in post facelift but has been replaced with the XS. The SE and XS were available pre facelift except the specs were so close they eventually dropped the SE. (The SE being closest to the HSE)

HSE comes with everything pre and post face lift.

The facelift is an easy retro fit if you are interested... many have done it (take a look here http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic7917.html?highlight=relic ) Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Just to add to Captain's info, the rear door is easy to facelift - I managed it in a couple of hours without too much trouble - basically drilling a few more holes to locate the longer chrome ar$e piece (which I actually prefer Whistle )
I will be doing the front end soon - got the bumper but need to paint it first. Cheers,
Raz

Question:
Not that I'm at all interested (and neither is her Ladyship whose FL2 it is) to put any chrome on the FL2, would it not be an option for those wishing to change to a chrome tail, to stick it on securely with "Gorilla Tape" and thereby avoid drilling extra holes in the tailgate's body?

France 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Narvik Black

I have a 2007 HSE which I found after a lot of searching. It only had 28,000 on the clock with a full LR history at one dealership. It is mint and saved me a whole lot of dosh! One of the benefits of buying an older one is no DPF! Very Happy Very Happy

Have a look at some of the posts on DPFs to see why I am pleased. John

Ah but we with the DPF have the pleasure of helping save the planet and not choking the little old lady as we pass her on the pavement. Cool

But while I'm doing that, I look over towards Solihull and see the thick haze of pollution above the unfortunate town knowing the continued use of non DPF cars are slowly choking the poor residents that live there Sad .
My DPF has allowed a sapling to grow into a happy green tree that will help save this world and so what if it takes a second or two to accelerate into a roundabout, others can wait while I clean the mess I just left on my seat Whistle

The DPF.
Within the first year of ownership her Ladyship's MY2010 FL2 had the DPF warning alarm - to cleanse, go to dealer. So we promptly visited the dealer and he of course said "run it fast down the motorway etc etc as per the OM". I told him that has been tried not just for 20mins but for over an hour at speeds between 90 to 110kph. The dealer contacted LR CH and they said the software needed updating. They did that, and so far nearly 2yrs and 32k kms after that event we have had no repeat of the DPF warning. Fingers crossed that satisfactory position will remain so.

However, the spectacle of Captain Worm imitating a JC Faulty Tower's french "frap" - a.k.a. to lash down or hit - his FL2 whilst going down the motorway would indeed be most amusing. So disregarding the environmental benefits, folks should drive a DPF rigged FL2 to increase the jollity of the nation. Because everyone knows that laughter is good for your health Laughing

Thread Hi-jack warning!! Sorry darryloh but it now seems to be a DPF thread.

...anyway...genuine question, has anyone seen what LR dealers do to a DPF car when it gets the "go to your dealer" message?

Having worked at at Ford Main Dealer I have seen what happens to a Focus Tdci when it needs "regeneration". Basically it gets plugged into the computer which then revs the nuts of the thing.....4,000 rpm for 20 minutes! Shocked How good is that for saving trees?...or the engine for that matter. John

Erm guys, aren't we are drifting OT here a bit? - facelift to DPF to woofers & tweeters? Whistle

I looked at this and the construction of the chrome ar$e piece does not really lend itself to fixing with double sided tape. It is only a few extra holes which don't show anyway - you don't even need to modify the inner skin either, although it can be a bit fiddly doing it that way. Cheers,
