Just seen this,

I use one of these
www.roadhawk.co.uk

£199.00 , has GPS & data logging, sound & video, wide angle lens, easily mounted.
here's the view
Interestingly in one of my cars the screen is very wide & raked & the view is even better.

i should add that is having camera's in 4 cars & having had the camera's 4 years I have had two successful prosecutions, one against a driver who carved me up ! he got 3 points Thumbs Up & criminal damage where someone kicked the car whilst we were driving ! he just walked out of a pub , worse for wear & decided to have arandom kicking act ! still he got a criminal record for that one as he was caught on camera :rolllaugh:

Depending on your budget and having an iPhone you could splash out 69p on Witness:

i wonder how much it can store, I did 4000 miles in the states & recorded it all, sometimes its been great to play some of the trips through the national parks etc back. The big bonus is I leave it on in the car when I park in tescos car park & it captured a hit & run.
I am also surprised leaving a car in a car-park at night with camera on just how much attention is captured on camera !
Wouldn't want to leave an iphone on view.

heres another good reason why i leave my camera on when parked !
watch from the beginning as a woman driver in her 4x4 hits the parked car, gets out and looks and then drives off !
needless to say events caught up with her Rolling with laughter
