In the next month or so, i need to order a new lease car for delivery in Dec/Jan. I know at work we've been having a mare getting hold of Evokes and Freelanders on factory orders through lease companies - typically taking 6months minimum. Is this likely to be the case on a FL2 now?

Waiting times will vary depending on what spec you are after, leasing companies normally have a pool of vehicles they can get access to, if it is a standard spec one the chances will be better than if you wanted one with special options.

Visited Stratstone last week to test drive an Evoque and the salesman told me "any new orders won't be delivered until November at the earliest."

Looks like we have a bit in common here; I swapped to a contract hire TD4 from a contract hire V70 D5 nearly 10 months ago, although my cars are manuals. I've done 31,000 miles in mine in less than 10 months and it's doing just fine. I did have an SD4 auto while mine was in for service and traveled 250 miles in it during the 48 hours I'd had it. While it was slightly more powerful than the TD4 that I'm used to, the difference wasn't Earth shattering. When I raised the jerkiness of the auto box with them today, they told me that the TD4 auto is a lot less jerky, so it's interesting that you've heard the same thing. Personally, now that I've tried the 8 speed auto in the Discovery 4 (which is something else entirely!) I wouldn't bother with the Freelander auto and I'd stick with the manual. If it's a company car, it'll save you 4 tax bands too! |
