Roof bars and Tow bars from FL1 to 2

Afternoon all, raining heavily here and cricket cancelled so I thought I would join the Forum and ask for some advice. Been a Freelander owner since 2003, this morning gave the green light to dealer on buying FL2 07. Very pleased but need roof bars fitting so he is purchasing and fitting for me. Are the non genuine parts ok with regard to front to back bars. Also can a a factory fitted tow bar being taken off and refitted on a freelander 2. The one on the 07 looks like an awful goose neck thing. Hope someone can advise.

The roof rails on the FL2 are slightly wider than the FL1. The Paddy Hopkirk bars which had a good overhang for my old car only just bridge the new one to the extent that there was nothing to lash round when tying down a load.

The fixings for towbars are completely different and are not transferable. Prog rock is cool! Smile

Your title says "from FL1 to FL2"

If that is what you are intending, neither FL1 roof bars or tow bar will fit a FL2. With regard "non genuine" FL2 rails as seen on the bay, for example, I have no experience, but "you get what you pay for" is a good rule. You can get fixed or removable tow bars to fit FL2 from all the main manufacturers, flange or goose neck. All are type approved. You pays your money and takes your choice.. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
