One of the advantages of the basic radio is that it is far easier to upgrade, no MOST fibreoptics and the speakers are wired to the head unit, not to a rear mounted amp.

Interesting. I can relate to that.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Izmir Blue

thanks guys.

does the new FL2 S have bluetooth - i'll print the spec sheets off the LR site tonight and have a good read through. if not, is it a case of just buying a module and enabling via a faultmate like on the D3 or more complicated than that.

Auto seems to be the way I may go, but still undecided on S or GS

England 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Indus Silver

Hi,

i replaced a 2009 D3 with a 2012 freelander 2 GS manual and apart from not having the extra space the freelander actually handles my 1550kg caravan better than the D3 did. I put some of this down to there being very little difference in torque 420NM as opposed to 440NM but the freelander being aroung 700kg lighter itself so pulling less weight to start with. I also store the caravan at my parents house which involves reversing it about 75 feet uphil alongside their house and i have as yet not had any clutch issues or smell from it. This is my 6th Landrover disco1, freelander1td4, disco2TD5, disco3 2007tdv6, disco3 2009tdv6 and now Freelander 2 TD4 all have been manuals and all except original disco1 have been GS spec and the standard kit on this freelander is higher than that of the 2 D3's.
Good luck in your choice wish I was able to run a D4 and a Freelander2.

was towing a sankey trailer and came off motorway in france at 60mph

MrsDiscoDunc no longer wants to drive a small car (currently got an Aygo) hence the renewed search for a FL2

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Welcome aboard Dunc, swmbo has 57 plate GS manual and she loves it, I on the other hand prefer autos two reasons and quite simple

1. My D3 is auto and all the work vehicles are autos so keep stalling it at junctions Embarassed

2. Carnt be a Censored Sed with using my left foot Rolling with laughter

If your ever passing and you want a test drive your more than welcome, once I'm working back home rather than away all the time I might chop the D3 in for a FL2 myself.

Swmbo's has rear parking sensors, heater front/rear screens electric windows, cruse control/steering wheel controls and goes like s••t of a shovel

Chris

Has it got a proper spare wheel, does the clutch slip in fifth and sixth gear (ie do a fast test drive), is there any oil at the back of the engine (easy fix but get it checked) is there any whine which could be the steering, does the handbrake work (they can seize up). If it's been off road the exhaust heat shields may be Censored - mine are.

thanks Thumbs Up

looked at a GS today and check all these things. then bought it Thumbs Up from the same dealer who is supplying the D4

So MrsDiscoDunc is now a proud owner of a FL2 GS TD4e Thumbs Up

need to get the money from the D3 write off before we can take delivery but hopfully that should be next week or week after Thumbs Up

So, i spend half my life on the D3/4 site and if i spend the other half on this site then i wont get any work done !!

the gimicky engine start/stop econmy thing wasnt working though - poss due to low battery. that will get sorted, but apart from that, everything worked fine and dealer will do a full service and tax for 12 months, plus top the warranty upto a full 12 months Thumbs Up

i would tend to agree with you, but its only a second car and probably wont do more than 5k miles per annum and unliekly to be used for towing.

having driven modern autos for 8 years and the discovery3 /4 for the last 6 - I would never buy another manual for the sort of driving I do... the new auto boxes, especially the D4 8 speed auto are super smooth Thumbs Up
