Crossing the Lancashire - Yorkshire border.

We're currently on holiday and we may need to cross into Yorkshire from Lancashire.

Are there any border crossings that are considered relatively safe and is there anything that we shouldn't be found carrying if our car is searched by border guards?

We have no visas at this stage Shocked

Hope your enjoying your trip up here, Tigger, pity the weather has turned.

As for going into Yorkshire, you should be fine, leave some loose change in the car and always walk round with a bit jangling in your pockets, the slightest chance that you may spend some of it whilst in there will allow safe passage.

They respond warmly to such phrase as "what a beautiful part of the world" or "how much would you like for it" the answers can be difficult to decipher, just smile and nod and let them take the coins, the sensation of their sandpaper like skin on their fingers is at first at little off putting but is nothing to worry about.

Not sure were you are/have been? Hawes is a great spot, home of Wenslydale chesse I think, the road then to Settle or Giggleswick through the heart of the dales is a good run and very nice, if you have a decent map you should be able to see parrallel roads to the more main routes which although not "off road" are certainly mich better for getting a feel of the place.

Enjoy yourselves Thumbs Up

I've not crossed the border yet, I still think that it's safest to wait for nightfall first Wink
