Help please! Correct Thule mount kit for panoramic sunroof

Hi there, does anyone know the correct Thule part number for the mounting kit needed for a panoramic sunroof model?
I already have the rectangular section Thule bars and bike carriers. Just need the feet/base kit part number.
Seems to be some confusion over which foot/base is needed Sad
Thanks,
Tony

According to www.roofracks.co.uk site there is no fitting for panoramic sunroof models without roof rails 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I have Thule footpack which I use on my Freelander 2 with sunroof. The sunroof does not impact on the fitting of the footpack. I got mine from the Roofbox.co.uk

Maybe panoramic roof models lack some "stiffness" across the roof. Thus clamp type roof bars that use the door frame edge may not be sufficiently secure? Either that or Thule are concerned about the sun roof opening and impacting with the cross rail. Worth a thought. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Hi Landy. I realise the #754 will fit as the door frame is the same as the solid roof model. However, I have seen elsewhere (www.roofracks.co.uk) that Thule do not offer a fit for panoramic roof models (such as yours and mine) 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

These are fine with mine, and can open the sun roof no problems

Landy. I don't doubt yours appear fine. However there must be some reason Thule have doubts. And obviously they do. Clearly no manufacturer would rule out a sales opportunity is there was one. I am intrigued as to why they do not offer an option for models with panoramic roof. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I have images in my mind of roof bars and load continuing at 60 mph whilst the car hits a brick wall! Shocked 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

This appears to be the dilemma!
Folks are using the gutter type base with a panoramic roof, but not recommended by Thule.
Going down LR roof rail/cross brace route and then adding rail base is going to be an expensive option and I don't really want rails on all the time.

When I bought the Thule Roofbars for my first Freelander 2 SE with sunroof, I checked with the supplier before purchase that they were OK to use and were assured they were. Having used them now on both Freelander 2's over quite long distances, there is no problem with fitting them and no problem with opening the sunroof with them fitted.

Thought I would ask Thule directly about using the 754/1443 kit with a panoramic roof and got a reply today:

Thank you for your email.
We have had no issues with the 754/1443 combination for the vehicle you have stated.
Thank you

Not sure where I read that the door frame version wasn't suitable, but based on Thule's response and the replies to my post from those who are using this combo without problems, I am going ahead Thumbs Up

Just need to track down the best deal now for the components. Don't need the cross bars as I already have them from the old set up.

Thanks to all who replied.

PS . Dunkley201, if the bikes and roofrack overtake me on the way to Scarborough in June I will let you know Exclamation
I can picture it now. Knowing my luck, they will and they will probably take out the heated screen and bonnet in the process.

Rolling with laughter
It was www.roofracks.co.uk who advised they do not offer Thule bars for panoramic roof models - dunno where they got their info!

NB: I have a set of Pro-rack Whispbars - no apparent issues with those.

Glad you are getting sorted! Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

All I need now is the FL!!
Due to collect it on Saturday.
11 Plate HSE SD4 Auto in Lago grey with Windsor leather and 10.5k on the clock.
Hoping it will prove a bit more economical than the Disco 3 Auto it is replacing.
Detachable tow bar already purchased from a fellow Freel2 member in the Sales/Wants section and a dedicated 13 pin wiring kit on order.
Extremely jealous as it is in fact for SWMBO.
Started to clear out the old motor tonight as we just got back from an extended Easter break in Cambridge.
Can't believe where the kids manage to find places for their sweet wrappers Laughing
