2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Izmir Blue

a Fond Farewell

I have recently sold my FL2 and would like to thank all the members who have given me assistance. I wish you all well. I will look at the website occasionally, but doubt that I will participate further.

2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Galway Green

I see that a few months back you said that you would buy again ! Did you become unhappy with the car or was it the dealers ?? I had my first experience of a LR dealer for a service / warranty work recently and tbh the experience was average to poor. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
Evoque SD4 Auto Blue.
FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone.
RR Classic V8 EFI - Gone

Hi Pedro

No problem with the car,just decided it was time for a change.The New car market is very competitive,LR did not seem interested in doing a deal. I voted with my feet. Generally LR dealerships I have dealt with for service are OK but too expensive.

I've just seen the total discounts available for Land Rover Products from a mate who works for a major leasing company and believe me there is a lot of discount available on Freelanders to the right organisation, The pricing structure of Freelanders seems daft to me, I think that they are a great vehicle in the mid £20k range, but no matter how much " bling" you put on one they are not a £40k car, Perhaps the dealers are just flushed with Evoque success a bit like BMW were when the mini was launched 10 years ago. Hi Tigger

I have got a new Kia Sorento KX3 Auto. First impessions is that it is excellent,The 7 year warranty was one of the deciding factors. I am not going to Knock the FL2,it is a good car,I personally think the Kia is better. I will now wait for an avalance of critisism.

Good luck Bazza, two of my pals has Kia Sorrento's
They have been very reliable & tow a treat. At least they honour warranty work as one needed new fuel tank, injectors & pump etc recently & all done no fuss at 4-5 years old !
Their reliability put my FR2 to shame.
Now I say that's good service

Not my first choice but it does show how far the Korean's have come. It's a good looking car and becoming respectable. I'm sure that they'd have cut you an astonishingly good deal, especially with a Freelander to PX.

I hope it works out well for you

Each to their own, I hope they have improved from my experianced and can supply a dashboard to get a car back to the road quicker than the 6 months it took back in 2006 with mine

Can't criticise someone for choosing a good looking car with such a long warranty. Enjoy it mate. I would be interested in the MPG you get as its a fair size motor.

Not a lot of choice on proper UK made now. Not counting the Nissans, Toyotas, Hondas etc, you can buy a Black Cab or a Mclaren F1 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I think that the issue here was particularly Land Rover's reluctance to "do a deal". However, with Halewood working flat out building Freelanders and Evoques, on a full 3 shift system, 7 days a week, Land Rover are in the enviable position of not having to heavily discount to keep the factory busy.

Ultimately, with Kia's low manufacturing costs, they have the margin to pay for long warranties and discounting; Land Rover are never likely to be able to win a discount war against them.
