United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Sumatra Black
The DAB question...again...

Im just purchasing a FL2 XS with the upgraded HSE Stereo (6.1, 13 speakers etc) as this is the model fitted to the HSE i kind of expected it to have DAB, but it appears not... Big Cry

Has anyone out there purchased the HSE stereo upgrade for a 2011 model and got DAB or can anyone suggest a way to 'activate' Whistle this feature...

Thanks

Not all HSE have DAB. For example, my 2011 HSE, purchased in Romania does not have it... I cheked with LR Headquarters (UK) and they verified based on the chassis number, confirming that from the factory the car was not equiped with this. I do not know though if it applies to cars for specific regions / countries or to entire series.

My current (soon to be ex) GS has DAB as this was an upgrade

DAB is an option on all models except the HSE where its standard (going in to the 2012 models though this inc on XS as well)

What i want know is, if the Audio system was upgraded to the top FL2 model would it be easy to 'enable' the DAB or would i still need something like this:

Thanks all for your replies though Very Happy

Not possible to upgrade to DAB if not factory fitted.

Ok, peeps, as the HSE unit has DAB as Standard, is it possible to check if this is fitted and just not enabled, without resorting to removing body parts (the cars not mine) Laughing

Thanks again all

If I understand you correctly and you just want a quick way to see if DAB is included and working! All you need to do is press the FM button a few times when the radio is switched on and it will rotate through FM1-FM2-DAB1-DAB2 and AM. Once DAB "if included" is selected you can enter the menu system and get totally lost in the myriad of settings for the DAB radio! Thumbs Up

Nah, he's hoping that everything is there but just needs enabling.

Apparently there is a DAB amplifier in the rear side above the roof lining and a DAB receiver rear side below the window.
I can't see LR installing these units if the option was not asked for.

I have a 3 week old GS that has DAB radio as standard. If you have a DAB radio? you will have the small knobbly aerial thingy! on the roof. Very Happy Very Happy

The 'nobbly thing' on the roof is a multi function pod and besides DAB it also does the GPS, so you could have the pod but only GPS installed or vice versa or both. Smile Thumbs Up

Thanks all...

So in short, i need to 'fiddle' to see if the required bits are in place.

Thanks for the exploded view as well eYorks, i've seen this and also seen comments about a fuse somewhere for these devices, but nothing deffinitive.

The DAB options certainly dont appear when cycling through...remember my current LR2 GS has the DAB upgrade so i know how it works Very Happy

Any one have insights on a good after market unit then, other than the link i've already posted...

Thanks again all Smile
