Turbo Filter - LR016682

Has anyone got a picture (or details) of the "Turbocharger Filter" P/No. LR016682?
Just seen it advertised under the Freelander 2 service items at a supplier I have used in the past and cannot remember seeing it as part of the service sheet or the LR service kit for the 2.2 TD4.
Is this filter applicable to just the newer SD4 or i6?
Thanks,
Chris

Looks like a filter in the oil supply to the turbo.

Martin,

Do you know how often this needs changing and is it straightforward to change?

Regards,

Chris

Turbo oil filter

The Turbo oil filter is a beautiful plastic moulding tube insert inside the oil feed pipe banjo bolt. It has a fine mesh.
I cleaned mine with aerosol brake cleaner over a sheet of kitchen towel as I was looking for swarf debris after big end failure.
If you want to access it it's behind the engine low down by the front diff; not sure how you would reach it.
Might be an idea to have new seal washers as sometimes they self destruct 2010GS Auto ex Celeb, Santorini Black, 2011 facelift , spoiler, spats, mudflaps, LED footwell lamps, Witter detach,

Just seen this filter in the new Rimmer's FL2 catalogue. Did we get to the bottom of whether it needs cleaning/inspecting/replacing at any point?

Some interesting info on the net regarding Turbo pre filters. Some suggesting they're only require when the oil filter is in bypass & clogging will lead to Turbo failure as oil has normally already passed through the paper element at this point?

Apparently Subaru had an issue some years ago with turbo failures and traced it back to this filter. They issued a TB to remove them.

There are some issues of Turbo failures on Land Rovers. Wondered whether anyone had ever looked into it?
