I assume he did not stop (a safe assumption for white van man) and so you will need to pay for it yourself or claim for it. Do you have protected NCD?

Probably just knocked it out of its knuckle, I had this once, when the other side is folded push it folded by hand and it then sorts itself out, mine did anyway. |

Open the mirror as far as you can, by hand, as if you were trying to clean the mirror only. Don't worry, you wont break it although it takes a bit of force. Then try locking the doors, you may have try more than once and with any luck it should revert back to it's original position. Then try locking /unlocking the doors again. You may have to manually pull the mirror back, but hopefully the ball should go back into the socket. An easy fix for the dealer if you can't do it yourself Forget insurance nonsense. new mirror is approx £110 probably cheaper than insurance excess, assume it wont mend of course, fitting instructions are on this forum somewhere, takes approx 1 hour.

I had a complete new power fold wing mirror complete with coloured mirror cap fitted by LR when a coach bashed mine a couple of years ago - cost about £350. If you dont have coloured mirror caps I reckon you can knock about £100 off that figure. If you do have coloured caps and it isnt damaged you will still need a new one as they are glued on and cannot be removed - not that I have tried though! |
