It is a fantastic image though and worthy of any brochure/pro effort.

I want to get into this type of photography cause as you've shown the effects are stunning, all I need to get is a DSLR and a decent lense or 2.

What kit are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Joe

Kit?

I use a Konica Minolta 7D, and a solid Manfrotto tripod. The lens used was a 17-35mm wide angle with a polariser on it too to remove reflections.
A decent PC can help processing power and Photoshop along with a few select plug ins that I like to use.

I have my eye on the new Nikon 300, but I'm ok for now as my work keeps me away from the camera anyway!

Nikon and Canon would be as well for a new approacher as they do extremely nice entry level DSLR's that you can build your lens range up with, upgrading your body should you want to do so later on. A very good web resource is www.dpreview.com there are others of course, but this is well attended.

Nick, Great picky, very clever, your explanation as to how it was done is double Swahili to me, I am well impressed. Never knew you could drive to the top of Clee Hill. Where does the track start? I know the Cleobury Ludlow road quite well & have access to OS maps. Brown Clee is my favourite. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

Hmm, I wonder if I can indicate it on a Google map?

I could describe fairly easily if you know Clee village?

Swahili...lol. I talk that well. Nick Jones

Nick,
Sorry should have been less vague, I'm looking at different lense/body options and was wondering what you use to get such great pics.

I wonder if this works?

http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/

In the search box enter: SO594752 zoom in to the third cirle below the '+' sign and you will be able to see 'Titterstone Clee Hill'

It's the panaramic view point at 533 you want...near the aerial sign. An awesome spot, and rarely fails to offer a good evening view. The turning is actually posted off the main road, but can be missed if not careful.

I pulled in to the Kremlin Arms up the road in the town (posted off the road) for a decent pint of Hobson's Wink

Edit... this made me laugh: http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/culture/20...y_05.shtml

Cheers!

leave it out!

Well I think your 2nd version of this great shot is even better than the first. Whilst understanding others comments about the gritty realism of number plates Wink the edited shot now has no colour distractions from the overall pastel shades of the scene. Plus, probably more importantly, by removing most of the rearside of the vehicle from the shot, the eyes are drawn along the side of the car into the centre of the image; excellent!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Life is not a dress rehearsal!

nick_j007 Thanks very much for that. I will be up there next possible opportunity and partaking of the Hobsons. Ref the Kremlin link v funny. I can remember as a lad being taken to the Swan, opposite the Wychbold radio masts where they could get the Light Programe on the cooker. Amazing but true still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

Awesome Nick! Thumbs Up

Great job, and wish I had the patience to do more than simply point and shoot.

I hear you!

I was thinking when out in the fields the same day with my camera and tripod (photographing trees) that I completely lose myself in the process, and getting the nice image at the end is a pleasant outcome for the time outside...it's not just about getting a great picture you know?
Modern living is pretty busy for most of us, myself included, so being careful to put time aside and to 'follow your joy' whatever that may be is for me important. Being self employed allows me a bit of flexibility I suppose, but it still requires discipline to leave the desk and to get out in the sunshine Smile

Great!
Ah shame about the weather...we've had some amazing sunsets recently too...Imagine that on the side of your FL2 as you take a picture!!

Glad you found it...kudos to you now as I don't think everyone knows that actual road.

Did you drive over the humps like a kid when at the top? I did Wink

Not a sugar beet or carpet man myself, more of a swede gnawer and has you can see from photo Emily as not had a hand wash job for week.
Course I drove over bumps like a kid, after the sign that says no unauthorised vehicle access past here, why grow up ever. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit
