Need Sugestion for 19" tyres for hot climate/mild offro

Hi guys,

After 40,000km I need to change the tyres on all four 19" wheels. I live in a pretty hot climate (Cyprus) with short winters, and do some mild offroading occasionally.

Can I have your suggestions please on what tyre to go for?

Thanks!

Depends on how you define mild offroading. If it's only gravel / earth roads, then any tire will be ok. If you also plan on adventuring through more muddy tracks, then ATs or MTs would be good, but they will pe less performant on the street.

However, on 19" you won't find any AT or MT tires, at least not for the OEM Land Rover size (235/55/R19). You will find Continental CrossContact UHP which are decent, I took them also offroad and they have been ok-ish.

Sizing down to 17" you will have less "bling" but an overall lighter wheel, same ground clearance and more options, like the Pirelli AT/R, Yokohama Geolandar, Firestone or Kumho - these all being All-Terrain tires. And also the more aggresive Goodyear Wrangler MT/R.

Thank you for your reply. It's mainly gravel and earth roads, as we don't have a lot of muddy tracks here TBH Smile

I would like to keep my 19" rims, and not go down to 17".

Hot climate here also and the Continental Cross Contact UHP as stated are great.
Brilliant on road, grippy, quiet and responsive. It's a fairly soft tyre though so don't expect to get any high mileage out of them.
Done a bit of off roading on sand and gravel and so far so good.

Thank you both for your responses. Are the Continental Cross Road UHP the ones that come as standard on the 19"?

Don't know if they come standard on 19", on mine they came standard on 18", in Romania. It might differ from country to country, year to year and so on...
