Speedo Accuracy?

I may have been snapped by a speed camera van on the M74......
Anyone know how accurate the speedo is at 84 mph ish.......
Unfortunate start to my fishing holiday tho I was lucky enough to have a 14 lb springer on a spinner today....... JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....

Mines about 80mph at that speed according to the Sat Nav.
M74 there are plenty of Talivans, especially on those oh so tempting straight stretches.

Fingers crossed for ya Thumbs Up

One of those sign boards that show your speed indicates that at 31 mph on my speedo I'm doing 30 in both the Freelander 2 I've taken past it.. I suspect that an indicated 84mph is probably about 82.

VC&U requires 0 - +10% so 80 could read between 80Mph to 88Mph

When my Sat Nav shows the red 70 my speedo shows 71 with fairly new tyres. Prog rock is cool! Smile

Didn't Top Gear way back in series 1 of the new style show prove that if you do 170mph+, Gatso's can't pick you up?

I understand that is not relevant here due to the device not being a Gatso and an FL2 being incapable of 170mph+ Rolling with laughter

It was a TVR Tuscan S I think  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

The accuracy of the Freelander speedo is pretty good at 30mph mine reads 31 and at 70mph it reads 72mph on the clock, if you think you were doing 84ish it will be over the 80 me thinks.

Slightly off-topic Embarassed but did anyone see the item on the news where they are thinking of upping the speed limit to 80mph Thumbs Up

Down side though is that they will have 'Average Speed' cameras in those areas and 'will' ticket for ANYTHING over 80mph. Evil or Very Mad 2002 Honda VFR800

Sweden

After so many years with cars and speedos being at least 10% off (i.e. 110 km/h is 100 km/h) I was pretty surprised to see that the Freelander's speedo is actually very accurate...

And I think those "average speed" cameras are a nuisance. Just another way of exerting dictatorship. It's never too late to learn something new...

two things

ACPO guidelines for prosecution on speeding are generaly followed and are 10%+ 2 mph of the speed limit so

23 35 46, 57, 68, 79 so if it was a static camera that flashed it's a fair bet you were speeding as the tolerance is normally set to those rules to allow for a speedo error defence.

Speedo Accuracy?

Usually pretty accurate, on a trip to Yorkshire last month went through all the road works
on the M62 with cruise control on, no one passed me me, doing 48 in 50 limit .
(might have had something to do with the police car in front of me ..!!)

so sorry If you do the crime pay the fine ..
ps my springer would only catch frogs , then let them go when he got out the pond.

teaching him to fish wow ... does he "bait up" as well Wales

Its just a guideline, I had a ticket eighteen months ago for 33 in a 30, Gatso. The wife got one a year ago 33 in a 30 on a camera van and IIRC Tandeman got one for 32 in a 30.
