My Freelander has been recovered!!!!!

Back at the start of Jan i posted a message regarding the theft of my HSE Auto. I have just found out this week that it has been recovered.

The vehicle had been sold to Guy Salmon in Knutsford. They were just about to sell it and decided to do some checks.

Anyway, went to see the car today after the insurers recovered it to a repair centre. Looks like i got off lightly, 800 miles extra on the clock, scratched alloys, soiled leather, battery cover looks like its been removed. but i dont think anything that can't be sorted.

Going to get my local dealer to check it over on their diagnostics machine.

Hopefully my baby will be back to me looking as good as new.

I just have to forget that some bastards have been driving around in it.

Worst thing about the last month is the stress, anybody that has had a high value car stolen will know that insurers like to investigate you and everything else.

ps.

Looking to fit a tracker? The TRACKER RESPONSE seems to be the best and most expensive on the market. has anybody got any advice on these? Freelander 2 HSE Auto TD4. Privacy Glass. DAB Radio. Upper Chrome Mirror Covers. Tread Plates Front/Back. Cargo Net. SafeGuard, Santorini Black, Moon Roof

Can't imagine how you feel...I guess on one hand happy to have it back, but on the other hand one it was stolen you might have been hoping it wouldn't be returned.

What a bunch of fools Guy Salmon are......you would think they'd do basic check before buying a vehicle wouldn't you?!!!! Censored

Good news on the the car, bad news on the extra 800miles and the damage.

I can't beleive a LR dealer has bought a stolen car, I presume with fake documents.

I hope they have a CCTV system and can trace the payment to the toe rag who sold them it

regarding the Tracker Response I have heard good things about it.

But, you say you have to get over the fact that somebody has been driving around in it, if you get the tracker and are unfortunate to go through the same experience again, you may get your car back again, but it could be even in a worst condition. Wink

Saying all that, If i went through it, i would get one installed as well. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for the messages. I sympathise with anyone that ever has to go through this.

Nah

Not sure I see the appeal of a Tracker device. If someone should steal my car, I think I'd rather have it replaced by the insurance! Razz Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Glad to hear you got it back.
Personally, i think the tracker is a good idea, if nothing else, to catch the Censored while they are still driving it. it would be fun to be the fly on the wall and see the expression on their face when they think the police are just going to drive past them then they pull them over. Pity they can't shoot first and ask questions later. Bring back hanging. These do-gooders have a lot to answer for... Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

Seems a little strange to have the cover removed,

Whilst re filling the washer bottle this morning i was thinking why would they remove that, then i saw the VIN number in the windscreen is above it, then that got me thinking have they tampered with it

Worth checking Thumbs Up
