Don't put the blame at my door Greg, this noise only started a month ago when most of the threads seemed to be about whines, noises, creaks, groans, whistles and I started to think,

I don't have these

Or do I Question

It'll catch up with you Andy, you're now one year closer to decrepitating Rolling with laughter Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Hi my 07 plate has a slight rumble from the lower rear engine area. Especially noticeable at about 30mph. If the Haldex is at fault what are the consequences. Do you lose drive the rear wheels completely and what happens if you just leave it?
Does anyone know roughly how much an independent would charge to replace it?
Thanks.

First of all don't get paranoid!
Like many of us on this forum.
Haldex noise is at the rear of the car
So it may not be that at all.

It could be something simple like a wheel bearing.
Noises travel, get it checked out. Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

My 07 SE TD4 Manual FL2 with 52k miles has droning noise from the rear. Local independent advises that the Haldex unit is knackered. He showed it to me and it has significant lateral play. So that is being replaced (£1300 + fitting) before they decide on whether to do the diff pinion bearing as well.

I really appreciate Land Rover building in these 'little' faults for their customers' to find. Out previous FL1 had the 'k' series petrol engine and attendant head gasket issues.

Anyway...once I have paid off the credit card bill that will be last experience with Land Rover. Best 4x4 my a Censored

"Transmission Fault - Traction Reduced" came on my display the other day. Just wondering if anybody else in this post had this message come on prior to a Haldex or Diff repair, and what was the cost. North America posts say it's the diff, and the dealer said that too.

Dealer did a 155$ "software upgrade" and that didn't fix it. They say they will proceed by elimination (changing part after part - the next step is the pump in the diff if I remember correctly) until they find a fix.

Dealer told me I can't damage the diff (the referred to the problem as the "diff" by driving around (is this true!?). The car is with me until I find out if there are any ways to know what the fix is (instead of using the dealer's technique of replacing everything until it works). Has anyone had their diff or Haldex fixed successfully following the message "Transmission Fault - Traction Reduced" (without the problem re-occurring). How much $ to expect?

At the moment, there is no whine coming from the rear diff.

Thanks for your help on this!

Hi. My 57 plate fl2 has a highish pouched whine on the motorway. Strange thing is, it only happens when accelerating through 62 to 70 mph with the auto box in 5th with more than a third throttle input. I've tried it in 4th and 6th with bigger throttle inputs to but can't get it to make the whine happen.

Any ideas? John

Hi,

I lost all the oil from Haldex through the hole indicated in picture.
Does anyone know why is this hole? As I understood there had to be a stopper.

Best regards,
Cristian

I do not know. It is positioned on the bottom of the rear diff.
