Broken Spring

Hi,
not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but today whilst driving round a roundabout my nearside front spring went bang. I didn't know what it was at the time but there was hell of a bang and then a bloody awful noise... Upon closer inspection the spring is clearly in two bits.

Anyone else come across this and if so any idea of causes and cost to put right...?

Cheers

NSM

France 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Narvik Black

When I worked at a Ford main dealer we were always getting cars in with broken springs. When I asked the master technician (a guy who really knew his stuff) why this was happening when it never used to his reply was "emissions, emissions, emissions". Basically what he was saying was to get the emissions figure down as far as possible modern car manufacturers save weight wherever they can and springs are as a consequence lighter than they were.....and not so durable! John

Thanks for the replies chaps - much appreciated. Just stopped by the garage whilst out and about - they have the replacement springs but have to be genuine parts.... Thanks a bunch Landrover!

How do Mate.

I feel your pain!

But since having springs replaced had no bother whatsoever.

Mine had signs of cracked paint and an ingress of corrosion, i dont suppose you saw your broken spring?

Had a spring go on a pug 306, snapped in 2 and punctured the tyre, luckily I was only pulling off the driveway at the time or it could have been a lot worse.

Peugeot UK replaced all suspension parts on the front of the car on both side free of charge even though it was out of warranty by about 6 years. ______________________
