Couple of door locking problems on FL2

My 57 plate FL2 HSE has developed a couple of problems with the doors locks that I need some advice on

A) What the problem might be
B) Should I tackle them myself or get them looked at when it's serviced shortly

Problem 1
---------------
OS rear door does not lock when the car is locked from the keyfob. It can be locked only by pushing the lock manually from inside the car.

i'm guessing that for this some kind of electronic component has broken, any pointers would be useful.

Problem 2
--------------
NS front door cannot be opened from outside the car. The outside handle doesn't seem to be connected to whatever it should be to open the door.

Many years ago I had a problem similar to problem 2 on an old car and took the door card off myself and found some mechanical linkage had broken. Is it likely to be similar on the FL2? Something easily tackled?

Need to keep costs down so will tackle these myself if they are easy enough.

Many thanks
Mark

I just had "problem 1" fixed by LR. On the invoice it states that it was the latch that needed replacement.
I hope this helps. Cuatro Por Cuatro

I've just had problem 1 on my 57 plate SE

As stated above it needed a new door latch. Unfortunately on the FL2 the electric solenoid part is built into the latch so you have to replace the lot at around £60. Parts guy at the dealer said it's a fairly common fault.

Replacement is a bit fiddly as you need to remove the exterior door handle and the window winder mechanism as well as the door card to get access but I did it in a couple of hours and a quick search on the forum will turn up the manual pages you need to do this.

Worth checking with the local dealer that they've got one in stock before you start because it's a pain to get everything apart and then find you can't get the bits.
