I always press my fob twice knowing this is alarm/deadlocking the vehicle

Alarmed or not that is the question!!

Look at page 45 of the Owner's Handbook. One or two pushes will set the alarm.

It's just that with the second push it activates the dead locks and the movement detector.

Try this - leave a window open, close all doors, push remote once only. Reach inside through the open window and open the door from inside - - - the alarm sounds okay.

So why not just deadlock with one press? I can just imagines Mrs Georges face when I tell her to always press the button twice each time. Is there any time you would want to set the alarm but not the deadlocks?

Yes - For instance when I leave my dog locked in the car.

I would like to be able to have all of the alarm features, except the movement part.
That way a thief would have to break glass and overcome deadlocks to steal dog.

At present, thief only has to break glass, reach inside to open door from inside and steal my best friend.

LR chose their system so that little old granny could remain in car, safe that a thief couldn't just open a door and steal whatever. In an emergency she would be able to get out by opening door from inside. Mind you that will set off the alarm.

When I leave my dog in car, I leave sun roof open/all windows slightly open/and put the child locks on the rear doors/ then set alarm with one push. My dog will now be in the boot area. A thief would still be able to break windows but not open rear doors from inside. I think he would have a job pulling my Irish Setter over all the head rests and out through an easily opened non-deadlocked front door. If the dog didn't lick him to death the alarm might deter the theft.

You don't want to be locked in a car with deadlock actived,

You could also leave his Dog Seat Belt on and then they would have to unclick that too, whilst been licked and the alarm going off, to gain abit more delay time Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

67500 kms since april 2007. Good car! No specific issues, except from the electronics go their own way sometimes, but LR has found a solution for that to be installed this friday.

~23k miles since April 07. No issues to speak of, just the usual software updates, etc. Due for tires (rears wearing faster than fronts) and the dealer claims the rear brake pads need replaced as well. Not sure I believe that one, haven't had a chance yet this week to pull the wheels and have a look myself. Greg East

The only thing i could possibly complain about is NO mute function on stereo.

with 'mucho' thanks to the 'UK economy' and the bastards in our fleet department I have to say that "the new one" will not be a Land Rover product. To date owning the FL2 has been a highlight of my motoring experience (35 years), regardless of the totally poor perforamnce of my dealer, however even at this early stage (9 months) before replacement I can state quite categorically that my next car will not be a Land Rover.

I have a rather restricted list to choose from, it has to be a Ford group car ... ahem, ahem, TATA !!!

Even if the LR2 remains on our list the cost has shot up enormously, so it just isn't going to happen. My next motor MUST be a diesel and I would prefer automatic. Going by the information available today it is likely to be a Volvo V50 D SE R-Design Powershift-Auto; That will come in about £150 per month less than the FL2.
