Do you do enough miles to warrant diesel?

New technologies often fail these days, no time, need for profits and field testing using the ultimate guinea pigs. |

Having lived in a house on the side of a busy main road for most of the first 30 years of my life (and with diesel vehicles sales so much higher than they ever used to be) I'm actually pretty happy to see ever tighter emission regulations on new cars, especially those relating to diesel cars.

Dual Mass Flywheel for smoothing the natural vibration a diesel engine produces, like flattening out a sine wave. |

I personally cannot see that removing a DPF is legal, after all in this country it is installed to meet emissions standard 5 and as such commands a lower excise tax bracket. If it was removed it would no longer meet the standard and fall to emission 4 with higher CO2 and higher road tax.
