First Post!!

Hi all,

I am now the proud owner of a Narvik Black Freelander 2 XS on a '57' plate!

It's got the HST body kit fitted, but I'd like to use it for a bit of green laning now and again so I'm pondering removing it and returning it back to normal (possibly leaving the spoiler). Also thinking about facelifting the front bumper too, but that might come later.

How hard is it to put back to standard? As far as I can see from the install instructions the front and rear extra bits should just unbolt. It looks like I'll need to source original side bits (not sure what to call them - the bits that clip on at the bottom of the doors). The front grille has of course been cut out and replaced with the sports version so I suppose I might as well leave that.

I was originally looking at a standard GS model - tried to put a deposit on one but someone beat me by 30 minutes, then this XS came up at a better price through a friend of a friend about an hour later. Much better than paying the £25-30K I was looking at for a new one

I figure it can't be too hard to remove a "bolt & stick-on" body kit. I'm not afraid of a spanner - Just wondered if anyone's done it (probably not). Might flog the styling bits on eBay and get an even better deal or just keep them in the garage for when I sell it.

Worst case - I'll end up scraping the front & rear bling on a lane... No big deal

do the front bumper that should be enough, I dont think the side parts reduce the ground clearance.

Hmm... Straight swap probably not, but possibly part-exchange!

change it, IMHO the body kit is fugly, (and Im not one for voicing my opinions on the internet ) At work

Been lurking and searching the forum for a couple of weeks... I had noticed

Some scroat nudged my rear bit of body kit and left a very small crack next to the towbar eye cover, hardly noticable, but I knew it was there, I wasn''t very enthusiastic about the sculptured bits at the front (a bit too Essex looking for me) so I decided to remove the front & rear bits, they came off very easeally, biggest job was removing the glue from the body, but now you can't tell they were ever on. I had to buy a cover for the front tow eye (about £28.00) I left the the side bits rear spoiler thingy and grill, I sold the bits removed on Ebay.

I think the car looks better. What if there were no hypothetical situations?

i think the colour coded side bits look better than the plain plastic too, if you was to go back to standard i would look towards that, especially if your planning on the fakelift front end too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

@Gunfa: Thanks for the info!

@npinks: Think I'll probably take a leaf out of Gunfa's book and just remove the front & rear bits for starters. I can do the side bits etc. later if and when I feel like it (probably never). Will probably not do the fakelift - It's just an idea of something to do later on, but figured I might as well do it at the same time if the bodykit removal was going to be destructive. Think I want to add body side mouldings and side protection tubes first.

David, I am wanting to do to mine what you said you were going to do to yours. Did the front end come off okay ??? Do you get much more ground clearance ???
