Landrover Assistance While In Europe

Good Morning

I have 2 questions if anyone is able to advise:

1) as my car is only a year or so old (dec 2010) I know I am covered in the UK should I breakdown I will be rescued by LR. Does this cover also apply while travelling in Western Europe? (namely France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Liechtenstein & Switzerland?

2) has anyone been unfortunate enough to have to call for assistancein Europe - in which case how was the service?

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong location and I Have tried searching to see if this topic has already been addressed and looked in Europe posts. The Landrover Assist paperwork I got with the car is temporarily mislaid and the LR website is horrible to navigate!

Any words of wisdom gratefully received - should I be getting Green Flag instead?

Thanks EYorkshire - really don't know why I couldn't find that on their site. Printed off now and in the 'Holiday file!'

That man EY - worth his weight in gold.

But back on focus. the LR Assistance defaults to "Euroassitance" when you are on the mainland of europe so you will not necessarily get a helpful guy or gal from a LR garage out to your roadside problem, so gently cruise to the nearest LR garage if at all possible. And in the Alps they will not come to you if you are not on tarmac - unless - you agree to pay them for the distance from the tarmac to wherever you are stuck "off-road" Big Cry .

Also, do remember that at the weekends most LR garages do not have their service department officially open, and in CH & FL their sales department (cars or spares) will be closed after 11 or 11:30hrs on Saturday until 07:30 or 08:00hrs Monday morning. Shocked

And, do not expect that all garages will let you go without paying even though you have a LR warranty. Most will insist that you pay their invoice and claim the costs back when you get back to Blighty from LR UK. Sad

Finally, when driving in CH & FL you will find the cheapest fuel at the COOP Supermarket "Pronto Petrol" Stations - diesel is currently cheaper here than in the UK. Smile

Thank you again! Yes I was aware that I may have to pay & reclaim and the advice is to keep the old part. I will hope and pray don't break down 'out of hours' . I presume they have to rescue me 24/7 any day of the week and then if it can't be fixed at the roadside, tow me to a LR garage? What do I know....I'm only an Essex girl

24/7 if you cannot be repaired at the roadside to get you mobile again they will a) tow you to the garage of your choice and then and/or give you a hotel for the night or a hire car depending on the individual situation/circumstance.

It must be because of the oil wells in the Alps Rolling Eyes

As Land Rovers (all models) and their parts are dirt cheap compared to what we have to pay for them here in CH Big Cry

Current "Special Offers" - cheapest base model quoted on today's FX rates:

FL2 CHF42,200 = GBP£30,100
D4 CHF68,400 = GBP£48,800
Defender90 CHF39,900 = GBP£28,500
RRS CHF79,800 = GBP£57,000
FFRR CHF124,800 = GBP£89,100

Evoke - no "special" offers
