Phoned apple on the off chance they had someone there who knew what they were talking about. Turns out I need to install windows xp service pack 3 or the shuffle won't be recognised by the pc. Will let you know if it works as I'm just doing it now.

All a bit of the same really, the screen size is too small for me to say that HD will be worth it, 4G is a way off and no doubt will be expensive.

Cool features for many would have been a speak n spell function

I'll stick with my 2 for now and spend the money on something else, fancy new lens for the camera perhaps, may be going International job wise so I may need a shiny MacAir thing

Need to sort out my surround sound out too, McP is an audiophile, need to dust off the surround kit, still in the garage since I decorated, didn't see much point in having Corrie in surround whilst Mrs T snores away at my side.

Why haven't they called it a ipad3?

Worth a purchase if your upgrading from ipad1 or noPad

In case anyone was waiting with baited breath for the outcome, I have now installed xp service pack 3. Plugged iPod into front USB port and still not working. Decided to check one of the ports at the back of the pc as suggested by a couple of people on here et voila! iPod recognised and installed in iTunes. Now if only I'd tried that to start with

No, unfortunately not, no idea why, so will just have to use a USB port at the back. Probably would've worked all along in a different USB port without updating windows.

Does any USB device work in the front sockets? if not then there could be a loose cable as the sockets on the fron are case mounted whereas the rear sockets are usually mounted directly onto the motherboard (sorry if it's too tech speak!!!!)

I saw a chap speaking on the BBC news, talking about the new iPad, the other night - he said that, in his opinion, it would probably only be of interest to 'real' apple lovers as it didn't really offer anything of signifigance to ordinary punters
