England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Baltic Blue

I voted yes as I have had 3 on and off over the last few years, if I had the funds I would buy a new SD4 HSE tomorrow. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

English by birth..... Yorkshire by the grace of God.

If I can't afford a Freelander next time around (lease costs, fuel consumption and CO2 based taxation), I'd go for a basic Evoque as a compromise between a Freelander and an ordinary estate car.

Anything that does 65mpg gets my vote, so the X1 comes into that bracket. The Evoque wouldn't be my choice of cars either, it's fugly, but the running costs speak volumes. I have to say I've never driven either car, but then I never test drove the Disco or FL either before purchase.

The only way that engine will ever get close to 65mpg is in the brochure!

I used a new model 5 Series with that engine, drove it normally for the day, yet only just cracked 30 mpg.

A colleague drives a new "Efficient Dynamics" 3 Series which promises around 65mpg, yet returns about 36mpg and the last time I drove a diesel that rough, it was in a Mk4 Astravan with around 100,000 miles on the clock Sad

Don't buy one without a good test drive and don't take my word for it either; reset the mpg computer at the start of a decent test drive - drive it normally and see what you get...

We quite like the red, but it'd still be second best to a Freelander for us.

Is the white one gay? I drove a MINI for years, so I'm a bad judge of these things Laughing

Apart from the personalities on here, which I can't possibly comment on, my neighbour just got himself a white Evoque. I Am sure he has gay tendencies, after all he's on the PTA of the local school, likes sailing and is an Architect, say no more.

Back on topic to a degree, sorry, but the Evoque looks crappy in white, even worse if it had been one with a two tone roof. It's like a large Mini, but the wife likes it, so hey ho, we will have to get one.

Sounds like he should be driving a Saab had they not gone bust Wink Whistle Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Given a choice, I would like a decent spec D4 but as I appear to be pretty rubbish at choosing big ball numbers I guess another FL2 will do me fine. I still enjoy driving it every time I am behind the wheel so that must be some justification. I only wish LR would include some of the more useful display function that appear to be standard on even basic models by Henry F. An 8 speed auto with flappy padles might just make me cream my jeans!

I voted not sure on the grounds that I usually like to change direction with my cars and after 4 years with the FL2 I may want something different (I might win the lotto jackpot Laughing ) .

Fuel costs may well mean opting for something economical. I have always liked the BMW 3 series diesels but would certainly have to purchase winter tyres thanks to RWD being less effective than crawling on all fours in snow.

Only time will tell but I wouldn't want a MY11. LR need to improve things (get rid of the chrome strip for a start) or indeed launch an FL3 before I consider that. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
