I made the mistake of taking the car to one of the local Eastern European hand washes the other week. Seemed like they had done a good job for just £7. However, when I cleaned it myself the other day I found some scratches on the rear window which were not there before visiting the car wash. They seem to be just light scratches and I was wondering if any of you guys or gals have any thoughts on what could be used to remove them?  2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

Good news is it is repairable.

Ring up one of the widscreen repair companies, they can polish the scratch out and it will be invisible, they have the right tools and polish for the job, it's not a DIY fix. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

It depends upon the depth of the scratches. If you can feel them with your fingernail, forget about repair.

No it doesn't mean you can not repair it ,

with the proper repair equipment the glass surface can flowed and /or ground and you will still have the correct optical properties, all over Europe vandals damage glass surfaces such as cars, trains, buses, and shop windows with carbide cutters, diamond rings and any other thing you can think of, there is a whole industry devoted to repairing glass, OK it is not cheap but it is cheaper than replacement. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Hi MartinB, I have to admit this is new to me. (I'm out of this business for some time...). Surching around tells me you even could be right.
Anyway, it certainly is worth trying.

It all sounds nice but I don't believe you wouldn't see it if you remove deep scratches though (optical deformation)
At least, I would notice it.

Have they scratched the paintwork aswell Reg? 59 TD4e XS in galway green

Iain, it.s not the rear wiper as the scratches are well outside of the sweep of the wiper.

Annie, I found one small scratch on the wheelarch which wasn't there before but this has come out with good old T Cut. Hopefully, I wont find any more!

Will have to try one or two of the glass people I think.
