No.....the double sided Scotch tape didn't work either.

Absolutely NOTHING will stick to this Freelander dashboard !

I think I'm going to go with superglue......

I bet the dash has been cleaned with one of those silicon based polishes/cleaners in the past thats why nothing sticks to it?

Make sure you don't cover the passenger airbag with any mat or other device! Rather than use superglue, I'd consider stick-on velcro. You might have a better chance of cleaning it off come sales time. The dash on mine has faded a bit, so any item you glue on would likely leave a mark after a year or two anyway.

I have superglued the sat nav disc to the underside of the cubbyhole (where sat nav would go on higher spec models). This allows me to use the sat nav, when not in use the sat nav is taken off but the cubby hole can be used at all times. The disc that is glued on cannot been seen and should not effect the value when sold ( my first Freelander was sold with this in place and the dealer did not notice it ).
This was my solution to placing the sat nav as I did not what to stick on the windscreen or on the top of the dash. Second Freelander 2, first time ever that I have replaced like for like.

Hey GWO.....that sounds like the best idea yet.

Just checked and my old TomTom Go mount is too bulky to fit in even with the cubby hole rubber mat taken out.

Please tell me which mount and satnav you use and I'll buy one

Thank you David Hutchinson

Do a search - several people have fitted satnavs to the cubby hole, some looking very professional indeed. I just keep a cheap Garmin Nüvi in there, with the lead threaded through one of the holes in the base of the cubby hole and a hinged bracket I bought off Amazon to hold it in place. There's a photo in my gallery. But others have done much more exciting things.
Edit - Done the search for you:

Yes I cleaned it all with white spirit but NOTHING will bloody stick.

I bet you're all sick of my whingeing.........lol

Tomorrow morning I'm supergluing the 3 inch diameter TomTom mounting disc to the dash and that's that !!

Thank for all your suggestions fellas......in two years time I'll probably be back bellyaching that the dealer has knocked £500 off the trade-in value because of "dashboard abuse"

Stick the disc inside the " cubby hole" facing downwards so your satnav hangs in roughly the same position as the factory fit one would be ( I've done this) or any other position in there to suit you , but first before you do clean the area with something to remove all the polish that will stop the sticking. even superglue will not stick to silicon. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
