What's changed on latest Sat Nav maps?

Can members list roads, junctions etc which they know have been updated on the latest 2011-2012 maps?

I Freely Very Happy admit to being a gizmo numpty. Is there any point in updating Satnav discs, how do you do it and is it wise to use Volvo rather than LR discs. Does this affect the operation of the satnav at all? We bought our 2008 HSE from a main dealer in January with the satnav presumably that the car came with. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

rjc.....Simply buy the disc set, eject the old disc from under the drivers seat (Accessed from the rear of the seat) and put in the new GBR disc. Can't recall what the display will actually say but about 10 - 20 mins later (The time seems to vary from car to car or age from last update), you have the latest discs loaded Thumbs Up

Worth noting that other forum members have found the 'update' process to take, in some cases, a considerable amount of time.

So it would appear you need to allow it to do the update - during a nice "long" drive.

And give the disc a good clean with CD cleaner stuff first... Thumbs Up 2002 Honda VFR800

You only need one disc at a time depending on which country you are in. If you look at the discs the countries they cover are printed on the label.

I am off to France in July and will be hoping that the A88 going south from Caen is now on sat nav. The road was on the Tom Tom map but the navigation system didn't like it. It kept telling me to turn right when we went under a road bridge Shocked John

My sat nav is awful running on 07 maps, I use it to get me going in the right direction then just follow the road signs. I need to update is really, but been waiting to see which maps are the best. Volvo as mentioned above seems to be a hit at the moment.

Loaded the latest 2011/12 discs and the first thing I noticed was the cancel Guidance button is now on the first screen, a great improvement

Just updated my 2006/7 Europe software to 2011, which took only ten minutes. Noticed a new panel on the nav screen which shows much more detail of junctions from when about 1/4 mile away and counts you down as you approach. I like this touch as I prefer to use a broad scale to be able to see more of the surrounding area. Still turn off the voice though!
