41000 miles. '08 GS' TD4. Just started getting a strange noise from the rear offside, sounds a little like a helicopter rotor, "womp womp womp", it increases and decreases with speed. Had a full service done about three weeks age where the rear pads and discs were replaced. Any ideas, bearings, diff etc, or could it be the new brakes? JRS |

Have you had a look to see if there is anything caught up in the wheel like a stick or hedge cuttings ??? ive seen this before worth a check. There could be a problem with your handbrake shoes etc |

No debris in tyre or wheel, wheels secure no damage to tyre sidewalls JRS |

I had that noise and it was the handbrake shoes rubbing the drum. |

Wheel bearings tend to wine and vary in sound pitch with speed, sounds more like faulty brake pads or handbrake shoes.

I had mine replaced last week, 240EUR. Not much compared to the rear diff, that I was afraid of. |

I had exactly the same on mine - turned out to be a wheel bearing AND rear diff!
