Sat Nav quirk

Since the car coming back from the work on its turbo manifold my sat nav has developed a mind of its own

I always had the satnav arrow pointing straight up so the map rotated and gave a good indication of what was ahead

Now every time i start my car its reverted to the other option when the arrow rotates around the map

easily sorted by pressing the button in the top left corner to switch between views, but its reverts back to how i don't like it as soon as i have started the car again

Is there a setting that needs looking at or something i'm missing as prior to this it only switched when i pressed the button and now its becoming annoying Neutral Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I haven't got the LR SatNav but believe it needs to be set in the 'Compass' menu from 'North Up' to 'Vehicle Heading Up'.
Maybe Very Happy

EDIT: and did the garage work cure the hesitation?

i pressed the button already, but keeps going back after turning off and leaving it a while

no great hardship to press it, i'll see how it goes

what i did notice it took a few seconds to get a GPS lock too, Which make me wonder if my battery is low and its shutting systems down to save power Idea

I really must get round to charging it up and see if that solves things

EY: yes the hesitation seems to have been cured Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Maybe, looking at it on 'Topix' it defaults to 'North Up', so it looks like they may have disconnected the battery for whatever reason. Topix does say it can be changed in the setup menu permanently whereas the screen button is a temporary thing.

My 10 amp CTEK arrived yesterday and I tried it on my caravan battery that's been in the garage since last September, wow it was ready in 4 hours after self test showed it to be good.
I'm going to top up the car battery on Saturday via the rear 'fag' lighter socket as my travels to work and back in the winter has been short trips and in darkness, won't do no harm and the CTEK will let me know its state of charge by how quickly it goes through the stages. Thumbs Up

Nice one regarding the hesitation, good when you can see/feel that something has improved for your money.

not noticed any difference to fuel after the fix, still needing to refuel after 280/300 mile Laughing Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You should be able to set it in the settings menu then it will stay in the mode you want it to untill you change it. When I first got my car it would rotate with cars direction now ive changed it to stay pointing north at all times.
Since the garage has worked on your car they would of disconneted the battery. After they finninshed I bet they reset every thing but your satnav.

I disconnected my battery to fit a new one but the sat nav behaved correctly before and after battery disconnection.

Maybe someone in the garage was "playing". John

Charged battery and still getting this not heading north quirk, press button and it resets it's self back to the other setting

What I have noticed is when I first start up in the morning, and press my buttons to get to the map screens ASAP the op left corner has a red line through GPS indicating I don't have a gps lock

I wonder if anybody else's has this GPS indicator too ?

Yes Nick I have noticed this, not every time but does happen from time to time, seems to lock on to a GPS signal after a few seconds though

might be worth checking that all leads/cables are attached properly - especially the lead from the satnav to the antenna on the roof. That would certainly rule out that as a problem. 2002 Honda VFR800

after the dealer looked at this its been doing the same, as they couldn't find any faults or anything

What i noticed yesterday was after driving all across Leeds with a satnav route programmed in, i pulled off route and stopped to collect something, came back to my car 15mins later , and its had done its North thing, but had also cancelled the route, so i had to reprogram it in again

Im sure before it use to maintain its route even overnight

After been with the garage all day, no Censored Ing fault found

So tonight they are taking it home and will see what happens with the fact it looses North, looses programmed routes, looses route trace data, having a red line through GPS upon start up and is generally p Censored Ing me off

Guessing I'm going to have to rant tomorrow, as they must have used the no fault codes line about 5 times today, can't they solve things unless a computer tells what is wrong
