Parking in an empty car park & then a car squeezes next

Is it me ? I have noticed for years that when i go and park my car in a corner of an empty car park ( or in this case my back up C1 for all the days my FR2 didn't work ) some numpty, usually a van or 4x4 & this one with child seats has to park next to you ! risking door dings !
Is it that they need a car to align up with or are they that ignorant that they park next to you deliberately ?

Couple of years ago I parked my Jag ( 1 week old at the time ) in a car park that was empty and some numpty parked so close I couldn't get in the drivers door & actually had to fold the mirrors in to reverse out the space, having scrambled across the seats from the passenger side. Big Cry

It's a loneliness thing! Laughing

Thinking about it, many times I have left Land Rovers parked only to come back to find another Land Rover parked next to it - maybe they are gregarious! John

It's not just you, after dropping my car in for service I parked the loaner in the middle of a 500 space car park whilst I went into Starbucks to get coffee, there were a few staff cars right at the far end when I came out I couldn't believe it ther were 2 cars parked one each side of me, is it herding instinct?, they think it's safer to stick together?. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

Yes!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! Hate it when that happens. I do 2 things: (i) Stand and gawp in amazement for a minute or two, (ii) move my car ...

Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies...

This happened to me last week.

Drove down to a hospital in Middlesbrough and parked at the far end of teh car park which was empty.

Came out 45mins latere and a 4x4 had parked next to me (passenger side though!!)

I had to smile though as it was a brand new bright white RR 'Ewok' and it looked so very small next to my FL2. Cool

SWMBO actually said "isn't that a small 4x4" and "are you sure that is a Range Rover?" Very Happy 2002 Honda VFR800

this one was in 'white'

Must admit it did look nice - but not really in a 4x4 way.

Still liked getting back into my FL2 for the drive home....... 2002 Honda VFR800

Happened to me lots of times.
And as soon as i see the child seat in the car that has parked next to me, i'm looking for dinks in my doors.
I've watched 'em fling the doors open Big Cry

Its happened to me in the past, waiting for Mrs toeknee to do her 10 minute shop Whistle I always park well away from the entrance, but someone always parks next to me.

I know i have a nice shiny Black Freelander but it seems to attract them(may be they want have a closer look at the superior colour). I now wind the window down if i'm in the car, have the radio on loud ( for the more mature door dingers)and make sure we have eye contact before they open the door, then watch as they get out in slow motion, making sure they don't ding the door. Laughing or decide to either stay in the car, while the other person gets out or simply drive to another parking space.

I was parked up the other day in the services having a kip when an old fart pulled up in a sh Censored Y Renault and banged his door so hard against mine it woke me up! I got out to check it obviously not knowing exactly what he did but him and his older wife just pottered on and said nothing. Now admittedly my fl is not its cleanest at the moment but it's no excuse. Unfortunately it does mean I've not been able to check it properly yet. Fingers crossed it didn't crease it.
