CCTV camera's & LED numbers

CCTV camera
We have 4 camera's placed around the house, Cabled & recorded on a 500GB hard drive. They are motion sensed camera's.
One of the camera's is a HD day/night super-zoom camera with 120 LED's ( at night it looks like a jet engine on take off ! ) The day & night vision is brilliant & was looking at a 2nd one but most only have between 20 & 50 LED's This one also used to share a power supply with 4 other camera's but last week I had to use a separate power supply just for this one camera ! could it be the cold effecting it ?

Does anyone know what the difference is & how to judge a good night/day camera ?other than by what they cost ?

yes, you are prob better off with idividual power supplies, or just get a higher output supply.

Hi Oldgeezer,
I also have 4 cameras around the house. I use separate LED’s and place them above the cameras to stop them blinding the units. I got mine off eBay from China for only £11 but you can get them from the UK for £15 at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/48-LED-illuminat...3a69a279d9
My best mate has a security business and he also bought some for domestic installations. I also bought the power supplies from eBay which are cheap, make sure you get ones rated at about 3amps.
John. Thumbs Up

Thanks John. My PSU is rated at 1 amp. Always seemed low to run 4 camera's. I will look at these LED's, the other three camera's only have about 20 LED's each.
I will have a look on e-bay.

Thread resurrected! Anyone got or recommend any of the wireless wifi CCTV systems? Looking for just one unit, this will cover the drive and its one entrance from the lane.

There's all sorts of versions on eBay as you can expect, with remote pan/tilt or fixed with zoom. I've got security lights so night vision isn't the be all and end all. Also means I can check things whilst away.

Just be nice to know if anyone uses one and the feedback rather than a blind purchase.

If its 650tvl and costs over £65 it's prob a good camera! As for power supply, I would use a 2amp supply for the cameras. The infrared draws a bit more. Allow 500ma for each camera
