Lighting Problem

Have just gotten my Freelander 2 back after some clutch problems and am having problem with the lights. I have called the mechanic and he will look at it but can't do so until late next week. I was wondering if anyone had a bright (excuse the pun) idea on an easy fix. Basically, when the ignition is on the lights are constantly on dipped beam - no matter what setting the lighting dial is at (auto, dipped, sidelight or off). Added to the the main beam does not work in either constant or 'flash' mode and neither or the fogs seem to work either. - simple answer???
Thanks
Peter

Loose connector on the light switch Question or failed light switch, but then with the full beam not working it sounds like its not just that?

I would check all fuses, if all ok do a hard rest on the car, by removing both battery connectors and leaving off for 10 mins, I was told to hold the connectors together at this point (NOT the battery terminals) to do it

Cross fingers and hope Thumbs Up

All lighting is driven by Central Junction Box.
Try what npinks said, and if not successful, try a reflash of the CJB (update the firmware) at dealer.

hi has he been into the setting on the main computer in the car if so he may have put the lights on to Scandinavian setting by accident Bow down Bow down where the headlamps are on all the time as soon as you start the engine, if it is this it just needs re setting by connecting up to the computer system Whistle rainy-city

The mains are not working also, neither the fogs, he said....

May be a long shot, but check the F18 fuse in the engine compartment fuse box, near the battery.

If it's OK, it could be a malfunction in the CJB, maybe a Car Configuration File error.

By the way, when you "flash" the main beam, did you hear a relay click somewhere near the passenger feet's zone?

Hi there, thanks to all for replies. I tried to get to the F18 fuse but it's covered and I can't see to get to it EASILY and don't want to damage it. I will try the other suggestions later today. Also, in answer to questions on the main beam, no it doesn't 'click' when I 'flash' them which was one of the things I had especially notice and wonder about.

If they have been doing the clutch I bet they have snagged a wire somewhere putting it all back together?

Yes I guess they could well have snagged something. He did say he was also fiddling about around the drivers compartment where the pedals are so could have done something there as well?

Still, try to check that F18 fuse on the engine's compartment....
And the ones from the passenger's feet zone.

All the fuses in the engine and passenger compartment are good. Managed to get to the F18 fuse and it tests O as well.. Have taken the battery terminals off also but without any success I am afraid.
