Could always give Land Rover Assist a call and ask them to come out to you?

Haldex sensor fault ??? I think its mentioned elswhere on the forum.

As said above, you could call LA who will probably recover your car to the garaage and put you in a loaner... The garage is more likely to look at it sooner rather than later then as they have to pick up the tab on the loaner after two days Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

Been discussed several times on here, with my own car having this fault. Can be anything from a faulty sensor, new pump kit required to the actual Haldex unit needing replacement. I called assist and has the fault codes all ready for the dealer.

Hi Hunter it was just a faulty sensor on the haldex unit.

All fixed now and running like a dream. Thumbs Up

Thanks madmac
Think I'll just see how it goes for now, it only came on for a short time, when I stopped and restarted it had disappeared, fingers crossed.
Thanks again Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

Hi All,

LR changed my diff under warranty around a year ago (car was 2 years old with some 38,000 km).

Now had my first service just after warranty ended and been told the diff will soon need replacing again. Surely there's a fault with their diff units for them to go like fresh bread? I use the car for normal use, no towing, and only been offroad once with LR themsleves.

What's the Haldex unit and is it part of the diff?

I've always had the car serviced at LR at the specified intervals.

Thanks
Steve

Quick update. I complained to LR (Luxembourg) and they are going to change the faulty parts at their cost. It's clearly a known issue so definitely worth making a noise about if it happens to yours.

happy driving!

Hi,
My Free 2007, TD4 SE, 41000km, had same symptoms of transmission fault. To solve the problems, I followed forum advice and I bought new haldex pressure sensor. When started the procedure to replace it, I observed there was no oil in the haldex unit. I filled with required quantity of oil and started engine to check before replacing sensor - big leakage beneath the car. After inspection, one bolt holding cover of filter housing was cut - to find the origin I needed to dismantle exhaust system (see my gallery - haldex album). I found new bolt, filled oil and everything was OK, no faults, 4WD working fine for approx. 6 months. Last week: again Transmission Fault. Again same bolt was cut (i put original bolt at the location of cutter one). Same procedure to remedy the problem - successful. I question myself why it happened twice - I've got some possible reasons:
1. Original bolts coming from cheapest LR supplier, with bad steel quality,
2. Faulty sensor keeping oil pressure on very high level
3. Faulty haldex' control unit programming, letting pressure to be too high,
4. Faulty internal valves system
5. If you have any other ideas please let me know...
I hope it is the first reason, and i will have this problem no more, but i think, next step is to change pressure sensor. Do you know anything about software updates of haldex control unit, and is it possible to measure haldex oil pressure with LR diagnostic tool, or what is the working oil pressure?

Seb

Hi everyone! I get the "transmission fault traction reduced message" flash up on the screen briefly and then disappear ONLY ON A COLD START (winter, left overnight).
It doesn't return when starting it up again. No other dash lights. Car drives fine. Never appears at any other time

Anyone have any ideas about what this could be given that it never stays on? Could it be that the haldex/diff is cold and triggers a fault then realises it's ok? Read about turning ignition on for pre-checks before pressing clutch and starting car to help with cold starts. I'll try that and see if it makes any difference.

Many thanks for any help!
