A couple of items for the site

First of all, Great site Martin Thumbs Up

It's good to see it growing from strength to strength and hopefully one day we will be up there with the D3 and RRS boys in terms of popularity.

Exclamation
The gallery has no order...that I can see anyway and should be sorted alphabetically, based on the users name, to make it easier to search through.

Exclamation
The next one is I think the 'Off topic' section should be renamed and at the top of the boards to make more people use it rather than them using the 'General' section which gets much more attention. Maybe call it the 'Land Rover Lounge' or something....a general car discussion, joke telling, cr#p talking place.
I would liek to see more of us asking for non-car related advice, to make us more of a community and use the knowledge that we all have.

Exclamation
Next I would like to see a section added to the board that is written by members but posted by admin and would contain solutions, recalls, modification instructions, tuning company links etc. This would save repeat question and having to search so much to find info I think. Also it would combine hopefully info over several posts by an individual into one document/post.

A few examples;

1. Wheel direction symbol when using HDC or TR
2. Low power mode when fuel level is low
3. Tips on PTI Bluetooth pairing
4. Replacing your bulbs for LED's (mburton (if he wants) could do a nice write up for all the bulbs including web links and bulb types etc.)
5. Replacing your green LR emblems for black
6. Which oil for your TD-4? by Yamaha-Fan

There are many more that can be added, but these are those that I can think of off of the top of my head.
And as I said these would not be posts for people to add to, but only admin once they are posted and locked, and would only be altered if the writer wishes for it to be changed or a mistake is found by another member.

So the guys who think the gallery is fine can you explain how you find an individuals members pictures???? Look through every page until you find it?

The gallery is my only "hate" and the others are simply suggestions that I have seen in one way or another on other sites and that work very well for the community.

The other thing I was thinking with the Land Rover Lounge would be to have it linked accross all of the sites if possible so we all interact on general topics.

That would be very very difficult. Also at the moment Freel2 is on a different server to martin's other sites. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver, Alpaca, Privicy Glass, Sun roof, PTI, Tasmod's sills, DVD for the offspring, Sex on wheels! The site works well, I forget about other topics alot so higher up I might use it more. I find the gallery a little random, but it doesn't detract from the fact that this is one of the more welcoming forums I use regularly.
Good work Martin.

I agree about the Gallery - it's annoying that it's sorted by user ID (in effect, date of registration for the site) and not username, but all the sites are the same. I will look into changing this, depending on how difficult it is Smile

I can certainly create a Tips & Tricks board for you - similar to http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/tips-tricks-vf15.html - which should cover what you want for that.

The Off Topic area can't be linked across the sites unfortunately, as this would require a major re-write of the forum code to support this in order to load topics for that area from a single place, but keeping the rest of the content separate. This would also require a merging of all the user databases which would be a nightmare with the number of members we have across the sites now. Of course there's nothing to stop you participating in all the sites separately Wink

Also, I'm personally against the name "Land Rover Lounge" for the "Off Topic" area, because this suggests that the content is still Land Rover-related, which for the vast majority of posts would be incorrect. The Off Topic section as it stands (current name and location on the forum home page) works well on DISCO3 and RRSPORT. Ultimately this site is a Freelander 2 and LR2 site, so "on topic" areas should sit "on top" of the "off topic" items.

A good feature to use to check replies is the "New Posts" link on the blue menu bar, which shows you the popular topics since your last visit, regardless of the forum they've been posted in (except if you've opted out of showing Off Topic posts in there!). Alternatively you can use the "View posts from last: 1h 2h 6h 12h 24h 48h 72h" links towards the bottom of the forum home page to do a similar thing but for a specified time period.
