Front Disc and Pads

Hi all,

Wife noticed a scraping noise from the front left brake and it looks like we are now metal on metal Shocked

Bought the discs and pads today, however, this is the first time I have changed them on the Freel2 and i need a little assistance.

My question is, the bolts which hold the caliper on, are these Allen key, torx or just your run of the mill bolt which i can loosed with a normal socket? Question Also, what holds the disc on, is it a torx screw.

I wont get chance to start it till i finish work at 7pm so i just wanna make sure i have all the tools ready before starting.

Thanks in advance Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

If you have metal on metal, always change the discs a swell as the pads.

You will need torx bits and a torque wrench.

The disc is held on with one torx screw and the calliper is held on with two bolts which I believe are torx as well. You are advised to renew the two bolts (not torx) holding the calliper anchor plate on but failing that use Loctite. When retracting the calliper pistons attach a bleed pipe to the bleed nipple, point it into a jar and undo the nipple. That way the fluid goes into the jar and not back into the master cylinder hence avoiding the aforementioned spliiage issue.

The anchor plate bolts should be tightened to 200 Nm and the calliper bolts to 28 Nm.

Hope this helps. John

Yeh, the brake disc is scored quite a bit, but it was always my intention to change the discs anyway.

£100 quite for pads and discs. Did not go for originals but decided to go for quality aftermarket (BOSCH).

Working in a garage i got them a bit cheaper so i am happy.

Spoke to a couple of Land Rover dealers/specialists with regards to changing the Bolts and they have said that this is not necessary. Loctite it is then! Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

Managed fine with not many drama.

Torx screen to get disc off was an absolute Censored . Unfortunately, snapped the screw on drivers side so will have to drill it out.

But having said that, very easy and satisfing job.
