Bad bad news! Mine arrived yesterday (Friday) & the first piece I took out was the driver's seat cover. & blow me down, there on the side of the back part was a neat rectangular patch with white lettering specifically stating that these were not compatible with seat airbags & in fitting them I would be absolving M&M of any liability for consequential injuries! The only velcro in sight was where the bottom of the back part went under and returned to attach to the back of the seat part.

Boo hooo ... they are such fantastic quality but not to be kept I'm afraid.

Chrisdeeming ... where did you say the velcro strip is on your covers? maybe there was a later version where M&M sought to deal with this?

Another thought, if I can establish exactly where the airbag on the original seat deploys from, & the size & trajectory, would I be able to get the seam there unstitched & re-stitched with special weak thread? Obviously, this is what LR have got done for the OEM seats ... I assume this would be on the back side seam where on my leather electric seats there's a label stitched in to notify to that effect

On the grounds of safety (you only get one chance in an accident) I would not advise you re-stitch the seams. Best do as LR do and leave an open flap down the length of the door side of the front seats' panel.

You can easily locate the position of the airbag - on the door side seat panel you will find the "airbag" logo embossed onto the (leather or pleather or cloth) seat side panel. At least they are on her Ladyship's front seats.

France 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey

hello,
I've just picked up a set of M&M seat covers, specifically freelander 2, 2007- ,through exmoor trim on ebay. I also noticed the disclaimer on the black label. I emailed melvill and moon and this is their reply

"All our seatcovers are compatible with airbags - made either with the weak stitching or the foldover flap sides. If your seatcover has a black warning label on the flap where the airbag is then it will have the required allowance - if not check to see if the side panel has different, more widely spaced inner stitching to the rest of the seatcover.
Do keep in touch if you find none of these visible allowances for airbags. Kind regards,
Dael Melvill"

I checked the stitching and along that flap it seems to be a single stitch whereas other areas there is double overstitching.

Fitted them today, neat fit and good quality, much nicer than my previous nylon jobbies!

hi

thanks for letting us know, i have checked mine and i have white stitching along one seam that's the only place this stitching is used so if i fit them correctly should be alright, i guess the warning label is just to stop melvill and moon getting taken to court if your injured as the seat cover will slow down the deployment of the air bag 1995 P38 now dead
