I know what you mean, but people are still taken aback when told and really are not sure how to handle a situation like this, so take the best/easiest option, and don't mention it. also the fear factor can have this effect. Iain |

It's quite easy to say to someone "How's your ingrowing toenail doing" but with someone who has this unfortunate disease, "How's your cancer doing" does not have the same ring to it.

Let me make it clear, my post and the others are not a reply to Mcp, and he would know that. |

Folks deal with illness in their own way and each way is correct. Some prefer an immediate open dialogue others not, some take a very long time to "out" their illness - many prefer the here and now. There is no right or wrong whichever strategy is chosen.

I think that I am qualified to talk about both the subjects that are on this thread. I am typing the note on my IPad. Only had it for a month and it is the 32GB non WiFi model. there are pluses and minuses and the main thing is that for serious project or spreadsheet work it isn't as good as a PC. it for surfing, light business work and for accessing all the various sites through the app. system it is brilliant. After a while you get used to the keyboard and as someone else has said you can always buy a Bluetooth keyboard and if you have the Apple model it is a very slick piece of kit.

It is not easy to ask someone how C is going, when the reply could be, "not good it's spread" what a conversation ender, that's why people don't like to mention it, I know, I've been there, my eldest was diagnosed with Non Hodkinsons Lymphona, just over three years ago, it seems that this variety is normally found in middle aged men, over weight and unfit, he was twenty one, plays football three times a week with two hour training sessions twice a week and is of normal weight for his height. Even people you know would not want to mention it to you in case the answer was not favourable, he has come through this but he is not cured, remmission and regular check ups.
