It's the power steering pump. I've ordered a new reservoir. Dunno when it will arrive.
Fortunately, i've not ignored the whine so i've not used the car since i first heard the noise. I'm hoping the pump will be okay. The rack is still nice and smooth so i hope that will be okay too.

Will that rectify it then? A mate who works at land rover said about power steering earlier. Mines been like it for about 4000 miles so prob proper

Thanks for that although i had read it.
I tried the rack today and it's quiet and smooth throught it's entire travel.
I'm not going to use the car until i get the new reservoir fitted.

I don't fancy having to pay for a new rack!
And yesterday some broke my DSLR lens

When i checked the fluid colour today it's a clear green if that makes sense.
