Just picked up my first Freelander 2 late last week and loving it so far

Considering the car is second hand the boot is in quite a clean condition and I'm
keen to keep it that way. Looking on-line I have seen various boot protectors
including Land Rover's own version. What's the views of other members, are there
better versions than the Land Rover one ? Ideally I would like to have one that
covers the backs of the rear seats as well as the sides of the boot.

Also looking to fit some roof rails and bars, I have seen non-Land Rover models
of roofrails on eBay, are these any good or is the genuine article the way to go ?

There are quite a selection on Amazon and the Britpart one looked quite good. Prices vary but it's knowing the difference between cheap and good value.

I have the Land Rover one for ours, it works okay, but for the price could be better, just nylon type sheet made and sticthed to the shape of the boot. Bloody stupid suction pads that are supposed to hold it in place are rubbish, need to be inventive with the elastic they are attached to to fit it! Also have an extra carpet mat that came with the Britpart carpet over mats I brought for the car, that is quite good, but a proper rigid load liner would be much better! Not so sure they do one as I did look when we got it, but that was two years ago? Wrestled with the present one for now.

I bought two from e-bay, the first is a total black canvas boot lining bag it fastens to the rear head rest mounts with D rings and the inner side walls with fabric rings, you can have the front open as just a boot liner, zip up the front so that it contains the boot contents, zips down the back with the seats folded down so that all the boot carpet, side walls and backs are protected, there is also a flap you can drop over the rear bumper to protect the paint when loading , top stuff for about £50

I then bought a soft plastic boot lining lining tray (advertised for the Frelander 2) it has a small lip around it and a non slip rubber finish on top about £30, I did this as the full shaped Land Rover Rubber boot mat will not go in with the bag fitted,

Prices vary depending on exact model purchased by around £120.00.

Advantage is they can be removed completely when not needed.

I bought the LR rubber loadspace protector when I got my HSE - it does the job of keeping the floor clean, especially with two dogs, but dog hairs still get all over the back of the rear seats! Having said that, a good hoovering gets rid of them. No experience of the aftermarket ones which seem to be a lot cheaper than the LR item, as usual!

Have you looked at the Hatchbag bootliners? I have the Rear Plus version with Seat Split and cotton pet mat. Good quality product.

Bought the same as MartynB from fleabay works great for transporting the dogs and keeping the boot clean, far cheaper than the Landrover one and just as good.  You can't beat a degree from the university of life.
