Hi,

I am going to try and drop in to another dealer tomorrow and see if what they offer.

Very Happy

The chances are they will offer the same, when you go into the dealer he knows what you Freely is worth as soon as he sees it, but he won't tell you what it is, he takes all the details and logs it into his PC that is linked to LR, it will search to see if it has been offered to other dealers, when and how much, if you do a search on here there is a thread on it. Thumbs Up

Hi,

received a quote from another dealer which is almost identical such as trade in price and cost of vehicle as per landrover price list however they are also including 3 years GAP insurance, tyre insurance and supaguard treatment. The saleman states these are worth £800 ?

Is this a good deal?

The gap insurance is real, and probably a good idea, I think, on an assett that may lose 40% of it's value in 3 years. On a £ 25000 car thats £10,000 so it is peace of mind, note that the insurer will be paying for the return to Invoice value Difference between what you paid and what they can get out of your insurer, so say that is perhaps £200 to £300 quid per £10,000 of cover, so for you depending on what spec car you buy perhaps £300 to £400 of value if you bought it. obviously it does not cost them that.

The value of paint protection and tyre insurance, - wouldn't buy them myself but plenty swear by those products and if they are giving them away....

Probably the whole lot costs them £400 ? 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

'gap' insurance is not 'return to invoice' there are differences, , return to invoice paying for a new car, gap covering the difference between your insurance pay out and the real value of your car. ie it may pay out £18,000 but a car same as what you just lost may cost £19,000 at a dealership

NFU insurance gives you 2 years free return to invoice on new cars.

I may not be 100% correct, I'm only a farmer not an insurance agent but I'm talking in the right direction. Infact Ive started a new thread in the finance sponsor section, so we may learn the truth soon At work

I got a reply from one of the dealers knocking a further £150 off the cost of vehicle, inc previous GAP, supaguard, tyre insurance.

Is this a good deal?

Factory fitted options £900
Dealer fitted acc £408
Dealer discount £712
plate transfer £80

On the road price £ 26,650.00

Where does the dealer discount come in? is this some type of ploy? If I take the LR December price (25,195) and add on my extras, total £26,583

what am I missing here? Is the salesman trying to confuse me with playing around with numbers? Confused Confused
