Easily done..... not.............I'm a numpty !!

went to pick up a load of felt shingles on Wednesday night and unloaded them into the garage.

it was pouring rain so locked up the car on the driveway and went into the garage to sort the shingles out.
( with the keyfob still in my pocket )

went out on Thursday morning to find all windows open and seats, etc soaking wet with overnight rain !!

enough said...........hopefully no permanent damage done, but will take a while to dry out.

any tips/ideas to dry it out safely much appreciated.

Iain

Years ago, we used to use a de-humidifier to dry out cars, it will get all the moisture out very effectively, even were you cannot see to dry. Thumbs Up

have a hunt around, I can get one for a day in Lancashire for £25, money well spent when you need them, at this time of year you do not want a damp car, the musty smell will not be easy to shift if you leave it. Thumbs Up

dive around with the aircon on full blast, cold maybe but essentially dehumidifying.

Tractors have a cactus setting on the aircon which puts on the heat and the air con at same time. without it all the windows steam up if you get in with wet clothes on and the dog jumps in too also wet. At work

Beg or borrow a domestic dehumidifier, shut it in the car overnight switched on high setting with windows and doors closed. That will do the job. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Might be a good idea to have the carpets/seats etc professionaly cleaned/shampooed before you dry the car ?

in our last Defender it rained in a few times , but it just improved it Laughing there is a lot to say for rubber carpets ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Open all the windows and it'll quickly dry out due to it being 30 degrees C at 10pm.

with aircon on and heat turned up full, does this dehumidify ? or does it need to be set at cold ?

Hi Iain
The aircon will work at high set temperatures, yes it does de humidify, however, if the external ambient is low the light will say it is on but it will not work.
Also, because the air in the vehicle is so damp, the stale water will go through the condensor and may cause a bad smell in the car, it is there to ais demisting, not drying out the car.
Best way is get hold of a portable one
