Roof Spoiler Fitting

I have just bought a spoiler on eBay and although it is obviously brand new it came without any adhesive pads or brackets. It also appears to be missing any threaded bushes for the brackets either, so it is looking like I have bought a cheap copy (it was sold as a genuine part)

Having said all that, it was a lot cheaper than genuine so I am prepared to modify it to fit - some VHB tape will obviously do the trick but has anyone got a spare set of the new style brackets? They are the single hole type. Cheers,
Raz

I believe there was someone on here who made their own brackets based on info supplied by others. 2002 Honda VFR800

I am sure I can knock something up in the garage but just thought it was worth asking everyone here first - also has anyone got a link to the fitting instructions for this? I have googled 'LR002464 fitting instructions' but with no luck Sad Cheers,

Either McP or Mav71 I think has a drawing of the brackets they fabricated.

Go onto Topix website on there you will find instructions, but they are pretty crap.

Not sure what VHB tape is, you can buy the correct 3M pads for the spoiler.

To be honest it is easy to fit, I used a dry wipe marker pen to create some lines and reference markers, dummy run a couple of times with the spolier in your hands, line the reference marks up, and roll the spoiler forward into position, then remove the preotective film on the sticky pad and try it for real. Once attached with the pads it will not move, the brackets are more belt and braces.

use a alcohol wipe to remove and wax or grease from the area were the sticky pads will be stuck,

lining up and that would be the most important thing IMO

Ive just bought one from ebay aswell for £99. Its at the spray shop being painted.

Where did you buy your's from? I got mine from PowerfulUK Ltd and it came with the tape over the sticky bits and 2 brackets with screws. Have they forgotten to put them in?

Hi Annie, My spoiler was the result of too much wine and browsing eBay very late at night - I will never learn Embarassed

It was advertised by a bumper specialist and I assumed it was taken from a breaker but when it arrived it had obviously never been fitted to a car - the mounting bracket bushes had been painted over. It had probably been a display model or something - anyway the brackets were missing.

No problem as I will just make some simple brackets after I have prepped and sprayed the spoiler over the weekend. The mounting tape is just 3M VHB (very high bond) and I happen to use it a lot in my job.

Annie, did your spoiler come with the new style bracket with a single mounting hole? Cheers,
Raz

The brackets have 2 holes in. Have you seen them if you are going to make something?

I made the braces using mcphersonstrut's drawings. Spare bracket from the garage and a vice did the trick Thumbs Up
