An oncomming FL2 blinded me the other night, his O/S dip was pointing straight at me. Wonder if he has just fitted a new or uprated H7 bulb and like many others (all makes and models) has not located it properly.

This is a real problem driving at night, very many cars with a blinding dip beam and most caused by incorrect bulb fitment.

As H4 (double filament) bulbs phased out in favour of H7 (single filament) this has become more common, having been an MOT tester for many years this started to show a couple of years after H7 became the norm. Hopefully the introduction of H11 will help matters as it is a much more secure attatchment. All FL2's (3) Gone

I've also noticed it more this year, I would have thought anyone who replaces a 'lamp' would at the very least illuminate a wall to check for rough horizontal alignment.
On another note, I believe I am right in saying that our reflectors raise the 'nearside' beam a little for better kerbside illumination and this tends to blind a driver's rear view mirror a little when overtaking. I have been flashed on occasions after overtaking and wander if it is this, and made worse by my uprated lamps.

Just a thought, could be that someone may have changed their headlights completely and bought LHD ones without knowing it

I foolishly got Halfords to replace my dipped and main beam under their 2 for 1 offer. After frigging about for best part of an hour they claimed that everything was ok but when I did the simple wall test it was fairly obvious that one light was askew. Dragged them back out from their lair and they finally corrected the error.

Needless to say they didn't bill me for their ineptitude.  MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I have just changed all 4 H7s and was surprised to see how "flimsy" the location system was, on a positive side the Land Rover slide out headlight unit is fantastic 15 minute job, obviously not designed by the mudflap department It was great to be able to do the swap on my garage bench, far cry from the other week when I had to take the front wheel off the Beemer to change a bulb ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Not Guilty Annie ! I am only allowed in the Freelander as a treat, and having borrowed it last week to go shooting my next allocation is along time away .

ps I'd read a lot of threads on upgrading but I decided on the upgrading all 4 H7s after coming back home last week along un-lit B roads I was truely appalled at the dingy yellow beams on the standard halogen lamps. very strange because the same H7s in my company car are very good. The new +120 xenon gas H7's look better on the garage wall but I suppose only a drive along similar roads will let me know if it is real benefit or a £60 mistake . Martyn, the blue tinted W5W side lights are perfect, don't worry they are white when on, I have led in mine but they may be too white with Halogen.
