Another rattle........

I have a rattle that is driving me crazy Big Cry. It sounds like it may be coming from the glovebox area and happens at around 1300 - 1500rpm. I've found out that if I put it in neutral I can cause the rattle but can't pin point it. So far i've:

Had the glove box out and had a good look and feel around
Had a good look and feel around behind the central column
Checked that the rear view mirror isn't vibrating
Tightened the bolt behind the passenger side indicator
Had a look under the bonnet for anything obvious

Has anyone experienced anything similar? May have to take a trip to the dealers if not which is a pain as its just dropped out of warranty Crying or Very sad

Thanks

Check the air intake pipe on the left wing, there is a bolt behind the indicator prone to coming loose.

Archie - Do you know where the air filter bracket is exactly?

Taz - think I checked it but will have another look.

Thanks

Could not wait for latter so been out and had a look at the air pipe bolt and yes it was loose, so now we'll have to wait and see if the rattles gone.

Right......

Been outside and checked under the bonnet - removed the air box and it just sits on top of some rubber bushes with a flimsy clip attaching it to the air intake that runs up the side of the wing (when the air box was out the air intake pipe feels really loose in the wing even though I've tightened the bolt behind the indicator???). The large metal spring on the air outlet is a real pain to get back on! Everything is now as secure as it can be.

The bolt behind the indicator felt like the threads had been stripped when I tightened it up a couple of months ago so I've just removed it carefully with some blu-tac in the end of the socket and it's actually more like a screw with a bolt head that goes into a cheap looking piece of plastic so I've thread locked it with the help of some araldite!!! Wink

Rattle now gone!!!! If it comes back I think I will just look into making something to hold the air box end of the air intake pipe more securely.

Wife is Des tonight so I'll trawvel to our new years eve bash with my head in the glovebox just to double check! Very Happy

Thanks for the replies.

Rattle

These rattle sounds that have been reported. Does it sound like its matalic ??? I ask as mine has just started to make some weired noises.
When I start my engine up alls fine, If I rev the engine, still all is fine, but when I pull away or just after changing gear theres a matalic sounding rattle for a second or two.
Absolutely now idea what it is. From the drivers seat you can hear it near or arroundthe passenger side.
Sounds like its in the glove box. Funny thing is that if I wind a window down, either the drivers side or the passengers side you cant hear the rattle any more. Just wondered if any one else has or have had the same symtems

I have a small metallic rattle that comes from the passenger side. Took some to find out the cause and was coming from the passenger headrest. The metal pipe of the headrest vibrates into the seat trim base.
