Tried to reply to a private mail.
This reply is now sitting in outbox although message was reported as sent.
Nothing in sent box ?

It means your PM was sent and sitting on the server but the recipient has not read it yet. When he opens and reads it, you will know as it will disappear like magic from the 'Outbox'

though it can also stay in the outbox, as the recipient could have read the email that can be sent too
