well i know one council that doesn't have that policy, our chaps are out least twice a day when the condition's call for it, usually around late afternoon and early mornings ready for the busy periods.

Round here last December we never had our bins emptied for two weeks because the bin men couldn't get out of the yard and down the road because of ice and snow, its was the local councils own yard and access road I had to take our bins along with a few others to the "recycling centre" and at one point refused entry but that's another story.

It was Christmas Eve, no bins emtied for two weeks, not due again to be emptied for another two weeks, had great difficulty in getting six wheelie bins in a Freely, it's been said before the boot is to small So put them in a van, no you can't do that as you need a permit as it is a van, and you cannot get a permit on Christmas Eve, and since found out that you cannot have a permit for the said van as it has a tail lift and no vehicles other than the contractors own vehicles with any lifting equipment are allowed on site

I can Understand why we have to suffer ungritted roads, I mean why should I begrudge the 2 grand a year plus council tax not being spent on something usefull, I mean after all keeping the East Pennine Muhjadin Lesbian Day Centre and Anorak Sewing Co-operative functioning is a top priority, closely followed by " the Workshops in Painting Murals on Gable End Walls for the Terminaly Unemployable"
